Copenhagen: US President Donald Trump's proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to other countries and place the Palestinian enclave under US control has been denounced as 'unlawful, immoral, and completely irresponsible' by the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory. Speaking at a news conference in the Danish capital, Francesca Albanese condemned the proposal, warning it would exacerbate the regional crisis.

According to Anadolu Agency, Albanese criticized the proposal, labeling it as incitement to commit forced displacement, which constitutes an international crime. She called on the international community to adopt a more robust stance, suggesting that the time has come for the US to face isolation from the other 193 states in the international community.

Albanese also dismissed the idea that economic incentives could resolve the long-standing conflict in the Middle East. She criticized the international community's reliance on development, economic incentives, and humanitarian aid to manage the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that these measures have proven ineffective. While economic growth remains important, she argued it should not compromise fundamental rights, stating that peace through economic development amounts to an expectation of surrender.

She stressed that the path to ending the violence lies in giving peace a chance through freedom. President Donald Trump had announced earlier, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, that the US plans to take over the Gaza Strip, following his suggestion of permanently resettling Palestinians outside Gaza.
