Damascus: The Turkish Red Crescent has taken decisive action to support Syrian families affected by the ongoing conflict in the region. Recently, the organization delivered much-needed winter assistance to 1,250 families in Syria, focusing on those impacted during the Bashar al-Assad regime.

According to Anadolu Agency, an aid distribution event was held in the Qudsaya neighborhood of Damascus. This event saw participation from various dignitaries, including Burhan Koroglu, the interim charge d'affaires at the Turkish Embassy. Koroglu highlighted the significance of the aid efforts in Qudsaya, a neighborhood known for its large Circassian population. He emphasized the ongoing commitment to providing aid in Syria, noting that nearly 600 food packages and blankets were distributed in the area, with plans for further assistance.

Ferhat Surmeli, who leads the Turkish Red Crescent's Syria delegation, detailed the scope of the aid distribution. He confirmed that a total of 1,250 food packages and blankets were provided to families in need, with 750 packages delivered in Quneitra and 500 in Damascus.

In a significant development, Bashar al-Assad, who led Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia on December 8. This marked the end of the Baath Party's regime, a political force that had held power since 1963.
