Munich: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul convened at the Munich Security Conference to address concerns over China's activities in the South China Sea and strategies to deter North Korea.

According to Anadolu Agency, the US State Department released a statement highlighting the meeting between Rubio and Cho as a follow-up to their earlier phone discussion. The statement noted that both officials expressed shared concerns regarding China's actions and deliberated on methods to counter North Korean aggression.

Rubio reiterated the United States' commitment to South Korea's defense and economic cooperation, with a focus on shipbuilding, semiconductors, and energy sectors. He emphasized the significance of increased US liquefied natural gas exports to South Korea and collaboration on critical and emerging technologies.

The US Secretary of State also underscored America's dedication to the complete denuclearization of North Korea, while maintaining openness to dialogue with the nation. Rubio further highlighted the strength of the US-Republic of Korea Alliance in bolstering American security and prosperity.

The Munich Security Conference, a three-day event, concludes on Sunday.
