Johannesburg: Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that achieving a fair and lasting peace cannot be accomplished by expelling Palestinians from their lands, emphasizing the non-negotiable status of Palestinian territories.

According to Anadolu Agency, Fidan addressed the Global Geopolitical Situation session at the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa. He underscored that the two-state solution remains the sole viable path to enduring peace and warned that neglecting this approach would perpetuate ongoing conflicts. He highlighted the historical sacrifices made by Palestinians for their land and stressed that these lands should not be negotiated away.

Fidan noted that current conflicts have become more prolonged, destructive, and widespread, leading to mass displacement and significant strains on humanitarian aid systems, compounded by global economic vulnerabilities. He pointed out that rapid technological advancements are reshaping the global landscape, while multilateral institutions struggle to adapt to these changes.

Discussing Syria, Fidan described recent developments as encouraging and highlighted the importance of an inclusive transitional process. He advocated for the unconditional lifting of sanctions to aid Syria's recovery and emphasized equal treatment for all ethnic and religious groups, continued efforts against terrorism, and the prioritization of controlling chemical weapons.

On the topic of Ukraine, Fidan reiterated Trkiye's commitment to a diplomatic resolution and support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also emphasized Trkiye's strategic focus on Africa, noting significant investments across various sectors and affirming Ankara's support for Africa's growing influence on the global stage. Fidan concluded with a commitment to advocating for Africa's rightful place in the global order and ensuring its amplified voice in multilateral forums.
