Turkish President Calls for Greater Muslim Representation in Global Decision-Making

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for greater representation of Muslims in global decision-making bodies, asserting that they should have a more significant role in these processes.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan emphasized that Muslims, who make up a quarter of the world's population, deserve to be included in the global decision-making processes. He made these remarks during an address to foreign ambassadors in Ankara, highlighting the importance of equitable representation.

Erdogan reiterated the necessity for an Islamic country to have veto power on the United Nations Security Council. He has long advocated for this change as part of his 'the world is greater than five' initiative, which challenges the current structure of the Security Council. During an iftar meal marking the end of the daily fast during Ramadan, Erdogan stated that having an Islamic country with veto power is not just a need but an imperative.
