Sydney: Following a threat to a mosque in southwest Sydney, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Tuesday that "racism and Islamophobia will not be tolerated."

According to Anadolu Agency, Albanese confirmed on Instagram that he has been warned that "there has been a threat of violence against a mosque in Sydney's southwest." He described the threat as "abhorrent" and stated that there is no place for such acts in Australia, denouncing both Islamophobia and violence.

Albanese expressed his support for the authorities and law enforcement agencies that are investigating the threat. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice and face the full force of the law.

The incident brings back memories of the tragic events on March 15, 2019, when an Australian white supremacist attacked the Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Islamic Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 51 people and injuring 40 others.
