Jordan Condemns Interference in Syrian Stability, Backs Government Efforts

Ankara: Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has denounced efforts to disrupt Syria's security and stability, reiterating Jordan's commitment to supporting Syria's government and its citizens.

According to Anadolu Agency, Safadi expressed these sentiments in a statement on X, emphasizing Jordan's opposition to any groups or foreign interventions that compromise Syria's security and sovereignty. He underscored the kingdom's backing for the Syrian government in maintaining civil peace and stability.

Safadi further stressed the importance of rebuilding Syria based on principles of unity, security, and sovereignty, ensuring the protection of citizens' rights. The call for stability comes amidst recent military escalations in Syria.

Military and security forces from different regions of Syria recently mobilized to counter a significant offensive by Assad loyalists in the coastal town of Jableh and nearby areas, which led to the deaths of 11 Syrian army members. This marked a pivotal moment in the country's ongoing conflict.

Gayyas Delle, a commander of former regime forces, announced the creation of a military council aimed at overthrowing the current government, highlighting the continued unrest in the region.

The situation has evolved since Bashar Assad, who led Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia on December 8, marking the end of the Baath Party's long-standing regime. Subsequently, Ahmed al-Sharaa was declared president for a transitional period on January 29, signaling a new chapter in Syrian governance.
