Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday firmly stated that he would not engage in negotiations with the Trump administration in the United States, declaring, "Do whatever the hell you want."

According to Anadolu Agency, Pezeshkian made this remark during an event in Tehran, addressing President Trump's threats against Iran. He emphasized his refusal to negotiate under pressure, responding to the threats with a resolute stance.

In addition, Pezeshkian criticized President Trump's conduct towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a White House visit, expressing disapproval by saying, "One really feels ashamed of what Trump did to Zelenskyy."

On a related note, Iran dismissed claims made by President Trump on Saturday about having sent a letter to Tehran proposing nuclear talks. Trump had previously expressed hope for negotiations with Iran, suggesting it would be "a lot better for Iran," while also warning of potential military action.

The backdrop of these tensions can be traced back to 2018 when Trump unilaterally withdrew the United States from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran. Despite Iran's compliance with the agreement for over a year after the US withdrawal, the country gradually reduced its commitments, citing the remaining signatories' failure to protect its interests.
