San Francisco: Tech giants' artificial intelligence (AI) models are being used to give life to humanoid robots, as Google-affiliated DeepMind recently announced its Gemini Robotics model. Google said the model was developed with new robots in partnership with Texas-based robotics maker Apptronik.

According to Anadolu Agency, the AI-powered and next-generation robots can do a multitude of things, from filling a lunchbox's various compartments to folding a piece of paper on command, as showcased in a recently released video. The firm emphasized that AI-powered robots need to possess three key features: adaptability, interactivity, and the ability to manipulate objects akin to a human.

ChatGPT-maker OpenAI, Google's largest competitor, is also making significant investments in robotics. The company released the Figure 01 AI last year after a fruitful partnership with humanoid robot maker Figure. However, Figure ended its cooperation with OpenAI in early February, despite the breakthrough.

Billionaire Elon Musk, the world's richest man, introduced Tesla's long-awaited robot Optimus Gen 2 at 'We, Robot' in October. The robot demonstrated its capabilities by serving drinks to visitors and engaging in other social activities.
