Istanbul: The Turkish benchmark stock index witnessed a mild increase at the close of trading on Monday, reaching 10,862.14 points, which marks a 0.2% rise from its previous closing figure.
According to Anadolu Agency, the BIST 100 index commenced the week at 10,869.00 and garnered an additional 21.55 points compared to Friday's closure. Throughout the trading day, the index hit a low of 10,809.1 and peaked at 10,902.61. In terms of performance, 55 indexes saw gains, while 39 ended the day with losses.
The total transaction volume for the day amounted to 122 billion Turkish liras, equivalent to $3.33 billion, with the overall value of the index standing at 9.67 trillion liras, or $264.7 billion.
In the currency market, the USD/TRY exchange rate was recorded at 36.6380 by 6.40 pm local time (1540GMT). Meanwhile, the EUR/TRY rate was 40.0710, and the GBP/TRY was 47.5820. In the commodities market, gold was priced at $2,995.90 per ounce, and Brent oil was trading at $70.70 per barrel.
