Daraa: At least six people were killed in Israeli shelling on Tuesday in the western Daraa province in southern Syria, authorities said. The Daraa governor's office reported that several individuals were also injured, including a woman, during an incursion by Israeli forces in the town of Koya, followed by artillery shelling.

According to Anadolu Agency, the attack triggered panic among citizens as Israeli reconnaissance planes flew over the area. The state television reported that many residents fled the town following the bombardment.

The Israeli army acknowledged the attack, stating its forces returned fire after identifying gunmen who allegedly opened fire on Israeli troops. In the aftermath of the attacks, the Syrian Civil Defense evacuated 24 families from the village to safer locations.

Last week, Israeli warplanes conducted several airstrikes in Daraa, resulting in the deaths of at least four people and injuries to 19 others, including women and children. Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, violating the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria.

Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes targeting military sites and assets across Syria, including fighter jets, missile systems, and air defense installations, according to reports. After leading anti-regime forces to oust Assad, Ahmed al-Sharaa was declared president for a transitional period in late January.
