Ankara: Trkiye will host a meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday to address Black Sea security following a potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, as announced by the Defense Ministry.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting will take place at the Naval Forces Headquarters in Ankara and will include military representatives from various foreign countries. The discussions will center on naval military planning aimed at maintaining a peaceful environment in the Black Sea. Notably, the ministry clarified that Russian officials will not be present among the foreign military representatives.

Trkiye remains committed to its role in ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which started in February 2022. Ankara has consistently encouraged Kyiv and Moscow to pursue peace through negotiations and has expressed its willingness to support any initiative, including mediation, to foster a peaceful resolution.

In March 2022, Trkiye facilitated a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers in Antalya, which contributed to the establishment of the Black Sea grain deal later that year. However, Moscow chose not to renew the agreement after July 2023, citing limitations on Russian grain exports.
