Moscow: The Kremlin announced on Sunday that the ongoing discussions between Moscow and Washington regarding the revival of bilateral relations are progressing 'very well.' The process, however, is said to require intense negotiations to achieve substantial outcomes.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov shared during an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin that reviving relations from the ground up poses significant challenges and demands considerable diplomatic efforts. Peskov's comments, shared on Telegram, emphasized that the process involves 'small steps' aimed at creating an atmosphere of minimal mutual trust.

Peskov highlighted that Russia and the US are navigating this path with patience, acknowledging that many steps remain. He pointed to the serious damage inflicted on Russian-American relations under the previous US administration and described the ongoing efforts as 'painstaking work' to mend the damage.

The spokesman advised against expecting immediate results from these talks, noting that public and media expectations often lean towards 'maximalism.' He stressed that the reality of the situation is more complex, requiring additional work and time.

Peskov also mentioned the prospect of face-to-face talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US counterpart Donald Trump, stating that these will occur when the timing is right. He praised mutual visits by Russian and American envoys as a "very good, reliable channel for communicating positions."

These remarks followed a meeting between Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg. Since February, contacts have been ongoing to revive bilateral ties and seek a resolution to the Moscow-Kyiv conflict, which has persisted for over three years.
