Beirut: Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier Wednesday above Beirut and parts of Lebanon.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli military aircraft broke the sound barrier over Beirut and several Lebanese regions, as reported by the Lebanese National News Agency, NNA. This incident occurs amidst a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon, which has been in place since November. The ceasefire put an end to months of cross-border warfare between Israel and the Lebanese resistance group, Hezbollah, which had escalated into a full-scale conflict in September.

Lebanese authorities have documented over 1,470 Israeli violations of the ceasefire, resulting in the deaths of at least 129 individuals and injuries to more than 375. The ceasefire agreement stipulated that Israel was to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by January 26. However, the deadline was extended to February 18 after Israel's refusal to comply, as it continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
