Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has alerted the nation to the likelihood of Russian assaults on Ukraine's energy infrastructure coinciding with the period around Orthodox Easter, observed on April 20. During a meeting with energy workers, Zelenskyy referenced intelligence reports indicating Russia's plans to execute new attacks both before and after the holiday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy commended the energy sector employees for their resilience in maintaining the country's power supply throughout the winter, despite facing continuous bombardments. Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko reported that Russia has executed 13 significant drone and missile attacks on Ukraine's energy grid since the beginning of 2024, resulting in emergency power outages nationwide.

A partial ceasefire concerning energy infrastructure was agreed upon by Russia and Ukraine following discussions mediated by the US in Riyadh in late March. However, allegations of ceasefire violations have been exchanged between the two nations since the agreement was made.
