Antalya: The 60th Presidential Cycling Tour of Trkiye, the nation's sole Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) ProSeries race, began Sunday in Antalya, a southern resort city known for its scenic beauty.

According to Anadolu Agency, the event was inaugurated at Ataturk Park on Konyaalti Street, with notable attendees including Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Trkiye Osman Askin Bak, Antalya Governor Hulusi Sahin, General Manager of Youth and Sports Services Veli Ozan Cakir, and Turkish Cycling Federation President Emin Muftuoglu. Minister Bak highlighted the significance of the Tour of Trkiye in promoting sports tourism, noting that Trkiye has become a prominent sports nation, attracting numerous tourists through major sports events.

Minister Bak further mentioned that Trkiye recently inaugurated a UEFA representative office and is poised to host numerous significant events in the future, with Antalya positioned as a leading city for sports tourism. The race, starting from Antalya, will span 1,153 kilometers (716 miles) across eight stages, traversing well-known Turkish tourist destinations such as Kemer, Kalkan, Fethiye, Marmaris, Akyaka, Aydin, Kusadasi, Selcuk, and Cesme, culminating in the Aegean city of Izmir on May 4.

The 2025 edition is set to feature 160 cyclists representing 23 teams from 13 countries across three continents. The event will be broadcast live internationally on Eurosport and domestically on TRT Spor, offering an opportunity to showcase Trkiye's landscapes and cycling culture to a global audience.
