Ankara: Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi have reiterated their commitment to supporting Syria's security, stability, and sovereignty. The announcement was made during a joint news conference in Ankara, where the ministers emphasized the importance of Syria's territorial integrity.
According to Anadolu Agency, the ministers addressed various issues affecting the region, with a particular focus on Israel's actions in Syrian territories. Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan criticized Tel Aviv's expansionist policies, stating that they pose a threat to Syria's stability and security. Jordan's Ayman Safadi echoed this sentiment, highlighting efforts to coordinate with Trkiye, Syria, Arab states, and the international community to end Israeli aggression in the region.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani condemned Israel's repeated violations of international law, stressing the non-negotiable nature of Syria's territorial unity. He warned that any delay in addressing these issues could lead to further instability and foreign interference. Shaibani also highlighted the importance of strengthening military and security coordination between Syria, Trkiye, and Jordan, describing this partnership as an urgent necessity.
During the conference, Shaibani announced the formation of a new political phase in Syria, including plans for a national parliament representing the diverse Syrian population. He also revealed steps to reopen the Syrian Embassy in Ankara and establish a new consulate in Gaziantep, indicating a commitment to long-term cooperation with Trkiye.
The ministers also discussed the ongoing fight against terrorism in Syria. Hakan Fidan emphasized the priority of preventing terrorist organizations from exploiting the situation, particularly focusing on the threat posed by ISIS (Daesh) and the presence of the YPG/PKK in Syrian territories. Both Fidan and Safadi highlighted their discussions on mechanisms to counter terrorism, with Shaibani noting efforts to unify all Syrian territories under central state authority.
Furthermore, Fidan addressed the decision to dissolve the PKK terror group, expressing optimism about the benefits of its implementation. Shaibani welcomed this move as a step towards restoring security and reducing violence in the region.
