Geneva: The UN human rights chief warned on Monday that climate change could drive an additional 80 million people into hunger by 2050, citing systemic inequalities that make food inaccessible and unaffordable.

According to Anadolu Agency, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk highlighted in a post on X that one in 10 people worldwide already suffers from hunger. He emphasized that the issue is not a lack of food, but rather the systems that render food inaccessible, unaffordable, and unsustainable.

Turk urged the need for food and land use systems that are built on principles of equity, sustainability, and human rights to address this growing crisis.
