Riyadh: Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Humain, a Saudi state-run company, have announced a collaborative investment surpassing $5 billion aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

According to Anadolu Agency, the partnership between AWS and Humain will focus on developing a pioneering 'AI Zone' within the kingdom. This ambitious project is set to incorporate a variety of advanced features, such as dedicated AWS AI infrastructure, state-of-the-art servers with world-class semiconductors, and UltraCluster networks designed to expedite AI training and inference processes. The AI Zone will also integrate a suite of AWS services, including SageMaker, Bedrock, and AI application services like Amazon Q, all aimed at propelling Saudi Arabia towards its goal of becoming a global leader in AI technology.

This collaboration aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative and further supports the kingdom's 2024 pledge to cultivate an AI-driven economy. The investment marks a pivotal step in Saudi Arabia's journey to establish itself as a global AI powerhouse. AWS plans to bring its extensive expertise in server and network infrastructure, along with its comprehensive suite of AI and machine learning services, to support the development and scaling of generative AI applications within the region.
