Tripoli: Libya's internationally recognized Government of National Unity has dismissed recent social media reports suggesting that two of its ministers have resigned. A statement released by the government emphasized that all ministers are continuing their duties as usual.

According to Anadolu Agency, the government clarified that the news circulating on social media regarding the resignations of the Minister of Local Government Badr al-Tumi and Housing Minister Abu Bakr al-Ghawi are unfounded. The statement further noted that official decisions are communicated only through approved and formal channels.

The rumors of ministerial resignations surfaced in the aftermath of violent incidents in Tripoli. Tensions escalated following the death of Abdel Ghani al-Kikli, the head of the Stability Support Apparatus. In response, the 444th Brigade, associated with the Ministry of Defense, took control of the Stability Support Apparatus' headquarters in the Abu Salim neighborhood of Tripoli.

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, in a statement dated May 13, praised the efforts of the army and police in reclaiming state authority during these events. The following day, clashes erupted between the Rada militia, a significant force in the capital, and government forces, resulting in visible plumes of smoke over parts of Tripoli.

The Defense Ministry later announced a ceasefire across the conflict zones in Tripoli, aiming to safeguard civilian lives. Mohammed Abdel Wahab, an official from Health Affairs at Tripoli Municipality, reported that the clashes led to six fatalities and left 70 individuals injured.
