Washington: US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Iran has become 'much more aggressive' in nuclear talks.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump expressed his concerns during an interview with Fox News, stating, 'Iran is acting much differently in negotiations than it did just days ago. Much more aggressive. It's surprising to me. It's disappointing, but we are set to meet again tomorrow. We'll see.'

Senior administration officials have indicated that Iran appears to be stalling negotiations while simultaneously advancing its nuclear program. Outgoing US Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Gen. Michael E. Kurilla informed the House Armed Services Committee that he had presented President Trump with a variety of options to deter Iran's nuclear ambitions. Kurilla emphasized his preference for a negotiated settlement to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, citing the potential consequences of conflict.

Following a fifth round of US-Iran nuclear negotiations held on May 23 in Rome under Omani mediation, Trump mentioned to reporters that the US has 'a meeting with Iran on Thursday,' though he did not specify if it would be another round of nuclear talks. Trump, who withdrew the US from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran in 2018, is actively seeking a new deal, reiterating that Iran would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear bomb.
