Milan: A Palestinian doctor who lost her husband and nine of her ten children in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza has arrived in Italy with her only surviving son, the Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed.

According to Anadolu Agency, Dr. Alaa al-Najjar and her son Adam were part of a group of 70 Palestinians flown to Italy aboard three Italian Air Force planes. This group included 17 wounded individuals in need of urgent medical attention and 53 accompanying relatives.

Adam al-Najjar, who suffered severe burns and had his hand amputated during the May 24 airstrike on their home in Khan Younis, was welcomed by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani at Milan Linate Airport. Tajani presented the boy with a soccer ball and announced that Adam would receive medical treatment at Niguarda Hospital in Milan.

The airstrike also injured the boy's father, Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar, who later succumbed to his wounds. Dr. Alaa al-Najjar was at work during the attack that claimed nearly her entire family.

'I am heartbroken. I am leaving behind everything that was important to me. My husband, my children, the hospital where I worked, my job, my patients,' Dr. al-Najjar shared with Italy's La Repubblica newspaper before her departure.

The flights, coordinated with Italian diplomatic authorities, took off from Israel's Eilat Airport, landing in Milan, Verona, and Pratica di Mare.
