Tehran: In response to Israel's recent assault that resulted in the deaths of Iran's top military commanders, Tehran has swiftly moved to appoint new leaders to key military positions. The Israeli forces targeted Iran's nuclear and missile facilities, claiming the lives of prominent figures such as Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, Hossein Salami, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, and Gholam Ali Rashid. In retaliation, Iran launched missile strikes on several locations in Israel, leading to at least three casualties.

According to Anadolu Agency, Maj. Gen. Amir Hatami has been appointed as Iran's new army chief. Hatami, who previously served as the country's defense minister from 2013 to 2021, was given the new role by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Khamenei emphasized Hatami's dedication, competence, and experience, urging a transformative and revolutionary approach under his leadership.

Following the assassination of Gen. Bagheri, Maj. Gen. Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi has been appointed as the new chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces. Mousavi, who has been serving as the commander-in-chief of the Iranian army since 2017, also holds a doctorate in defense studies and has been involved with the army since 1979.

Iranian media reports that Maj. Gen. Ali Shademani has taken over as the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters, replacing Ali Rashid. Additionally, Mohammad Pakpour has been appointed as the permanent chief commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC), succeeding the interim assignment of Ahmad Vahidi. Pakpour's military history includes participation in the Iran-Iraq war and leadership of the IRGC Ground Forces since 2009.

Majid Mousavi has been designated as the new head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' air force. According to Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency, Mousavi succeeds Hajizadeh as the aerospace commander.
