Mashhad: Israel announced on Sunday evening that it had targeted an Iranian refueling aircraft stationed at Mashhad airport in northeastern Iran, approximately 2,300 kilometers from Israel, as reported by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli Air Force conducted the strike at the airport in Mashhad, marking the furthest offensive since the beginning of the current operation. This attack represents the first instance of Israeli forces targeting Iranian aircraft on the ground.

The assault is part of a larger series of coordinated airstrikes launched by Israel on various sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, starting early Friday. In response, Tehran has executed retaliatory strikes. The conflict has since escalated, with Israel expanding its targets to encompass Iran's oil and gas industry.

Israeli authorities reported that at least 13 people have been killed and over 370 injured due to Iranian missile attacks since the onset of hostilities on Friday. In contrast, Iran reported that at least 78 individuals were killed on the first day of the Israeli assault, with additional casualties, including children, on the second day.
