Tehran: Explosions were heard in Tehran on Wednesday as the Israeli army launched new airstrikes on the Iranian capital. An Israeli military statement indicated that warplanes are striking Iranian military targets in Tehran.

According to Anadolu Agency, Iranian media confirmed that explosions were heard in eastern Tehran, with smoke visible in the area. Reports suggest Israeli strikes hit near a Red Crescent facility in Tehran. Additionally, attacks were reported on Payam Airport in Karaj, situated in the northern Alborz province.

Further reports from the Iranian Fars News Agency revealed that another Israeli strike targeted mountains east of Tehran, causing a loud explosion. Israeli media indicated that the attack aimed at missile-launching sites in these mountains. In a separate incident, Israeli warplanes attacked three Iranian "Cobra" combat helicopters at a military base in Kermanshah, western Iran.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that fighter jets destroyed the Iranian internal security headquarters in Tehran. He mentioned on X, "The tornado storm continues to hit Tehran. We will continue to strike symbols of government and hit the ayatollah regime everywhere."

Later, the Iranian Fars News Agency reported that Iran's police condemned the Israeli strike on the Faraja headquarters, which resulted in injuries to several officers. The current situation follows escalating regional tensions since Friday when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities. This prompted retaliatory strikes from Tehran.

Israeli authorities have reported that at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured in Iranian missile attacks since the escalation began. Meanwhile, Iranian media reports indicate that 585 people have been killed and more than 1,300 wounded in the Israeli assaults.
