Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated on Thursday that Tokyo and Seoul have aligned their outlooks on key issues following his meeting earlier this week with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. This announcement came during Ishiba's visit to South Korea's embassy in Tokyo, marking the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ishiba and Lee met on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit held in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. The discussions between the leaders were described as productive, paving the way for stable development in Japan-Korea relations. Ishiba emphasized that despite various phases in their relationship, the exchange between the two countries has always been extensive.

The talks also highlighted the importance of addressing common challenges and areas of cooperation. Ishiba noted that both Tokyo and Seoul face numerous challenges and share opportunities where collaboration through the exchange of insights is crucial. The leaders agreed to enhance cooperation with the United States to tackle regional and global security challenges, particularly those posed by North Korea.
