Washington: A US plan to destroy Iran's most fortified nuclear facility with a bunker-buster bomb is reportedly feasible, according to American officials. The Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a 30,000-pound bomb designed for penetrating hardened underground targets, is at the center of this strategy. Officials assert that the capability exists, but emphasize that any potential attack involves a comprehensive plan beyond simply deploying the bomb.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Trump has sought direct input from military advisers regarding the effectiveness of the MOP and its potential to neutralize the Fordow nuclear site. While Pentagon officials have expressed confidence in the strategy, the president has not reached a final decision. Fordow, Iran's most fortified nuclear installation, is an underground uranium enrichment site specifically designed to withstand conventional airstrikes.

US officials conveyed to Axios that preparations to strike Iran are underway, though there is no current conviction that such action is necessary. The president remains unconvinced of the immediate need for a military strike.

Meanwhile, Israel's National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi stated on local broadcaster Channel 12 that Israel's efforts against Iran will persist until the Fordow facility is damaged. Hanegbi noted that Israel maintains ongoing dialogue with the US but is not attempting to persuade Washington to participate in any operation.
