Moscow: Senior Russian official Dmitry Medvedev claimed that several countries are prepared to directly supply Iran with nuclear weapons, following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, made this assertion in a statement posted on Telegram.

According to Anadolu Agency, Medvedev's comments came shortly after US President Donald Trump announced that American forces had bombed nuclear sites in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. These strikes represent the latest escalation in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. Medvedev stated that the targeted facilities appeared to suffer minimal or no significant damage, suggesting that uranium enrichment and potential nuclear weapons development would likely continue.

Medvedev cautioned that the US is becoming involved in another major conflict, this time with the possibility of a ground operation. He argued that the Iranian leadership has emerged politically stronger as a result of the attacks, with the populace consolidating around the spiritual leadership, including those who previously did not sympathize with it.

He criticized President Trump for initiating another war, despite campaigning as a "peacemaker," and dismissed any prospects of Trump receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Medvedev also claimed that the "absolute majority of countries" oppose the actions of both the US and Israel.

The US strikes were a response to an intensification of Israeli military operations against Iran beginning June 13. In retaliation, Tehran launched missile attacks on Israeli cities and military sites. Iran's Health Ministry reported at least 430 people killed and more than 3,500 wounded in Israeli attacks, while Israeli authorities reported 25 dead and several hundred injured from Iranian retaliatory strikes.
