Helsinki: A summer storm named Ulla swept through Finland from Thursday to Friday night, causing significant power outages that affected thousands of households. The storm moved inland from the southwest, resulting in power disruptions for more than 11,000 homes, as reported by public broadcaster YLE.

According to Anadolu Agency, the storm hit southwest Finland with considerable force, necessitating multiple emergency responses. First responders were engaged in approximately 60 damage control operations overnight. In addition, a rescue operation was successfully conducted for two individuals whose sailboat faced difficulties in the Archipelago Sea.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute has responded to the situation by issuing orange and yellow alerts across a majority of the regions. These alerts warn of the potential for strong winds and flooding, urging residents to exercise caution and prepare for further disruptions.
