Trkiye and Iran Urged to Enhance Cooperation Against Terrorism: Erdogan

Khankendi: Trkiye and Iran should enhance their cooperation in fighting terrorism, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conveyed to his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian during a meeting in Azerbaijan.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan and Pezeshkian met on the sidelines of an Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Khankendi, Azerbaijan. They discussed bilateral ties and regional issues, with a focus on the importance of turning the current de facto ceasefire between Iran and Israel into lasting stability through dialogue and negotiation.

Erdogan emphasized Ankara's readiness to assume responsibilities in promoting peace, including acting as a mediator if necessary. He also stressed that advancing bilateral relations, especially in trade, would benefit both countries.

The meeting was attended by several high-ranking Turkish officials, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Akif Cagatay Kilic, Erdogan's chief advisor on foreign policy and security.
