Vienna: Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar stated that Tel Aviv has undertaken measures to ameliorate the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which remains under blockade.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sa'ar made the announcement during a press conference in Vienna with German and Austrian counterparts, Johann Wadephul and Beate Meinl-Reisinger. Sa'ar noted that following discussions with the European Union, Israel's Security Cabinet has decided to facilitate more trucks, crossings, and routes for humanitarian initiatives in Gaza. The blockade, which has persisted since March 2, has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, impacting the 2.4 million residents of Gaza with famine conditions and related fatalities.

Sa'ar also expressed Israel's intent to reach a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement with Gaza. He mentioned that any temporary ceasefire could lead to negotiations for a lasting ceasefire. Meanwhile, Hamas has indicated willingness to release 10 hostages to advance ceasefire talks.

In parallel developments, US President Donald Trump has indicated progress towards a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip, as indirect discussions between Hamas and Israel continue in Doha. The ongoing conflict has resulted in nearly 57,800 Palestinian casualties, predominantly women and children, due to Israeli military actions, which have also caused significant infrastructure damage and exacerbated food shortages and health crises.

On another front, Sa'ar addressed recent Israeli military actions against Iran, claiming substantial damage to Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities. He labeled Iran's nuclear ambitions as a significant threat to both regional and global security, urging Germany, France, and the United Kingdom to enforce measures against Tehran. The 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran saw airstrikes and retaliatory attacks, resulting in significant casualties on both sides and concluded with a US-brokered ceasefire.
