Rome: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday called for a 'Marshall Plan-style' approach toward his country's reconstruction. Speaking at the 4th Ukraine Recovery Conference, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of international collaboration in rebuilding Ukraine, highlighting the potential benefits for global economies.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy drew parallels to the historical Marshall Plan, a US initiative that revitalized 17 European countries after World War II. He expressed the need for a similar coalition and systematic recovery plan for Ukraine, suggesting that the rebuilding efforts could also modernize the infrastructure and industries of partner countries.

Zelenskyy underscored the transformative impact of the original Marshall Plan on Europe, which facilitated decades of peace and economic growth. He conveyed that the reconstruction of Ukraine presents an opportunity for a new wave of progress, extending beyond Ukraine's borders to benefit the participating nations' economies, technologies, and job markets.

The Ukrainian president urged international partners to join a coalition supporting Ukraine's recovery and to establish specific financing mechanisms. He advocated for the allocation of frozen Russian assets to fund the reconstruction, insisting that both the assets and their income should be actively used to aid Ukraine's recovery efforts.
