Kuala lumpur: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit the Malaysian capital to attend the 7th Trilateral Meeting of the Trkiye-ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partnership as part of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting on July 10-11, said Turkish diplomatic sources.

According to Anadolu Agency, at the trilateral meeting, which will include Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan and ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Fidan is expected to emphasize the Asia-Pacific region's central role in geopolitical, economic, and environmental challenges. He will also highlight Ankara's commitment to effective multilateralism, indicating that Trkiye values cooperation, inclusivity, and dialogue with regional countries within the framework of the Asia Anew Initiative.

Fidan will express Trkiye's willingness to contribute to joint efforts on issues such as natural disasters, transnational crime, trade disruptions, poverty, and food security. He will also reiterate Trkiye's diplomatic approach to resolving regional crises, including those in Ukraine and Gaza. Moreover, he will address the threat posed by Israel's aggression and advocate for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue as essential for resolving Middle East problems.

He is expected to highlight how the failure of global mechanisms to produce solutions has made collaborative efforts more necessary. Additionally, Fidan will discuss the specific contributions Ankara can make to support these collective initiatives and meet with his counterparts on the margins of the ASEAN meeting.

Fidan last participated in a similar trilateral meeting on July 26, 2024, in Vientiane, Laos, during the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
