Wonsan: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reaffirmed Pyongyang's unconditional support for Moscow in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. This declaration came during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in the North Korean resort city of Wonsan, as reported by state media on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kim's remarks were made on Saturday, where he expressed his country's commitment to back Russia's efforts in the resolution of the Ukrainian situation. This stance aligns with the North Korea-Russia mutual defense treaty. The meeting saw discussions on enhancing cooperation and protecting shared interests between the two nations.

Kim highlighted that North Korea and Russia share identical views on strategic matters, reflecting the strong alliance between the two countries. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) also reported separately about the strategic dialogue between North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui and Lavrov, where both parties reiterated their commitment to strengthening long-term ties.

Russia, during the meeting, expressed opposition to any efforts undermining North Korea's status and pledged support for Pyongyang's national security. In return, North Korea offered its complete backing for Russia's actions in Ukraine. Lavrov, who arrived at Wonsan Airport on Friday, is scheduled to proceed to China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization foreign ministers' meeting.
