Gaza city: At least 24 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured early Friday in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting residential areas and shelters for the displaced across the Gaza Strip. The attacks have intensified concerns over civilian safety in the densely populated region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the northern town of Jabalia witnessed the death of five Palestinians, including a child, when an Israeli strike hit a group of civilians in the Al-Nazla area. This attack continues a pattern of strikes on populated areas without prior warning, as reported by residents.

In southern Gaza's Khan Younis, the majority of fatalities occurred, with 14 individuals killed in multiple strikes at dawn. Medical sources reported that five people, including three women and a child, were killed, and over 20 others were wounded when Israeli warplanes targeted tents sheltering displaced families in the Al-Mawasi area. Additionally, a drone strike on the Hanawi School in northwest Khan Younis resulted in the death of a woman and her son, with nine others injured.

Separate strikes in the Al-Mawasi area claimed the lives of five more people, including a child, and injured at least 15 others. Two more civilians were killed, and several were wounded when Israeli warplanes bombed a family home in the western camp area of Khan Younis. The Israeli army also continued demolishing homes in eastern Khan Younis and conducted heavy artillery shelling on the city's southern and northern edges.

In Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip, five Palestinians were killed, and several others were injured while waiting for humanitarian aid near an aid distribution center. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army persists in its offensive on the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, resulting in nearly 59,000 Palestinian deaths, most of whom are women and children. The ongoing bombardment has devastated the enclave, leading to food shortages and a spread of disease.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
