Tel aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been diagnosed with intestinal inflammation following a bout of food poisoning, prompting a three-day rest period, as confirmed by his office on Sunday. The announcement detailed that Netanyahu became unwell overnight due to consumption of spoiled food.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Prime Minister's office assured that Netanyahu's overall health condition remains good. Under medical guidance, he will recuperate at home for the next three days while continuing to manage state affairs remotely. Consequently, Netanyahu will be absent from Sunday's Knesset meeting and a scheduled court session at the Tel Aviv District Court on Monday.

Netanyahu is currently embroiled in a corruption trial, which he attends twice a week. His trial, which began on May 24, 2020, marks the first time a sitting Israeli leader has taken the stand as a criminal defendant in the nation's history.

Additionally, Netanyahu faces serious allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity. In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for him and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged atrocities in Gaza, which have resulted in the deaths of nearly 59,000 people, predominantly women and children, since October 2023.
