Gaza city: At least 22 Palestinians, including children, were killed and dozens injured on Sunday in Israeli attacks on tents sheltering displaced civilians and crowds waiting for humanitarian aid across various areas of the Gaza Strip, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses.
According to Anadolu Agency, eleven people lost their lives and 101 others were injured when Israeli forces bombed civilians waiting for aid on Salah al-Din Street in central Gaza, Al-Awda Hospital reported. A Palestinian woman and her child were also killed in an Israeli strike on a residential apartment in Gaza City, as confirmed by medics.
Medical teams at Nasser Medical Hospital in Khan Younis reported that five civilians, including children, were killed and others injured when an Israeli drone bombed a tent housing displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza. Additionally, four more civilians were killed and others wounded in a drone strike on a tent for displaced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, according to a source from the Al-Aqsa Hospital.
In another incident, Israeli forces detonated an explosive-laden robot in the Shejaiya neighborhood of eastern Gaza City, as per eyewitness accounts. However, no immediate information regarding casualties from this blast was available.
The attacks occurred despite Israel's announcement on Sunday of plans for localized temporary pauses in fighting to allow aid deliveries through designated safe corridors. This move comes amid growing accusations that such measures are an attempt to obscure Israel's role in the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Since October 2023, Israel has killed more than 59,700 Palestinians, most of them women and children, in the Gaza Strip. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsed the health system, and led to severe food shortages. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Furthermore, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
