Gaza: Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced an attack on Israeli forces in the Khan Younis region of the southern Gaza Strip. The group reported that its fighters successfully destroyed three Israeli armored personnel carriers with the crews inside. According to Anadolu Agency, the Al-Qassam Brigades conveyed through Telegram that two of the armored personnel carriers were targeted using explosive devices strategically placed inside the command compartments. This resulted in both vehicles catching fire with their crews still inside. The fighters reportedly targeted a third troop carrier using a 'Yassin 105' rocket in the Abasan al-Kabira area, east of Khan Younis. Following the ambush, the group observed an Israeli military excavator arriving at the scene to bury the burning vehicles and extinguish the flames. Additionally, a helicopter landed to facilitate an evacuation. The Israeli army has not yet issued any statements regarding this incident. Israel maintains a strict policy of cens oring the publication of military losses in Gaza, often refraining from disclosing the full extent of its casualties. As per military data, 895 Israeli soldiers have been reported killed and 6,134 injured since the onset of the conflict in Gaza. The army is facing domestic criticism for allegedly concealing higher losses. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has continued its offensive in Gaza since October 7, 2023. This has resulted in the deaths of over 59,700 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children. The ongoing bombardment has devastated the enclave and led to severe food shortages. In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its actions in the enclave.
