Sabang: A strong 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the Indonesian coastal city of Sabang in the Aceh province, the US Geological Survey reported. This seismic event followed a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Indian Ocean.
According to Anadolu Agency, the 6.5 magnitude quake occurred at 1141GMT on Monday, with the USGS noting the depth at 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). This incident closely followed the earlier earthquake of 6.2 magnitude, which took place at 1841GMT at an identical depth as reported by the German Centre for Georesearch (GEOFON).
Despite the strength of these earthquakes, no tsunami warning was issued. Furthermore, there have been no reports of fatalities or structural damage in connection with these seismic activities.
