Gaza city: At least 69 Palestinians, including 12 children, were killed and dozens of others injured as Israeli airstrikes targeted various areas across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, sources and witnesses reported.
According to Anadolu Agency, one of the deadliest attacks occurred in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, where Israeli airstrikes flattened several homes, resulting in 30 fatalities, including 12 children and 14 women. A particularly tragic incident involved a fetus being recovered from the body of his deceased mother due to the force of the explosion.
In Gaza City, an airstrike on the al-Zaytoun neighborhood claimed the lives of five Palestinians. In a separate incident, a man and his wife were killed in a strike on an apartment building near Haidar Square. In northern Gaza, five Palestinians were killed, and several others were injured when Israeli forces opened fire near aid seekers in the Zikim area. Meanwhile, in Wadi Gaza, 14 people were shot dead near an aid distribution center.
In the southern region near Rafah, a civilian was killed close to a US-run aid center, and seven more individuals died between Rafah and Khan Younis after being fired upon while seeking aid. Additionally, in western Khan Younis, five family members lost their lives in a drone strike targeting a tent for displaced families near the al-Mawasi coastal zone.
The Israeli army has rejected international calls for a ceasefire and has continued its offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023. Over 60,000 Palestinians, most of whom were women and children, have died in the ongoing conflict. The relentless bombardment has devastated the enclave and caused severe food shortages.
On Monday, Israeli rights groups B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, pointing to the systematic destruction of Palestinian society and the deliberate dismantling of the territory's healthcare system. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
