Beijing: China on Tuesday acknowledged Malaysia's significant role in securing a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia after five days of intense fighting, which resulted in numerous casualties. Beijing expressed its appreciation towards the international community, particularly Malaysia, for its active involvement in facilitating dialogue between the conflicting nations. This acknowledgment was made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun during a news conference held in Beijing.

According to Anadolu Agency, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim declared the "immediate and unconditional" ceasefire on Monday. This announcement followed a crucial meeting in Kuala Lumpur, which included Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai. The conflict, which took place along the disputed border, claimed the lives of several individuals, including soldiers.

China has expressed its intention to support and strengthen the ceasefire agreement. Guo emphasized that China will contribute constructively to bolstering the ceasefire consensus. Japan also expressed approval of the ceasefire, highlighting the importance of a stable relationship between Cambodia and Thailand for regional peace. Tokyo commended Malaysia's diplomatic efforts as the host of the special meeting and acknowledged the United States for its role as co-organizer.

The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry also expressed its support for the ceasefire, with spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang welcoming the immediate end to hostilities. Similarly, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto praised Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for successfully mediating the ceasefire. During a meeting in Jakarta, Prabowo emphasized the importance of ASEAN's commitment to resolving conflicts through peaceful means.

Additionally, Pakistan expressed its approval of the successful outcome of the meeting organized by Malaysia, which aimed to address the Cambodia-Thailand conflict.
