El-fasher: The Sudanese army reported on Sunday that it successfully repelled an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state in western Sudan. The army stated that the assault targeted the city's northeastern and southwestern regions.
According to Anadolu Agency, the military disclosed that there was both personnel and material damage inflicted upon the RSF forces during the attack. However, the RSF has not provided any comments regarding the incident.
El-Fasher serves as a critical center for humanitarian operations in Darfur. Despite international efforts to negotiate a humanitarian truce and facilitate aid deliveries, the area has been subjected to a strict RSF siege and repeated clashes for over a year.
The ongoing conflict between the army and the RSF has resulted in a devastating civil war since April 2023, causing the deaths of thousands and displacing millions, as reported by the UN and local authorities.
