Ankara: Four people, including a police officer, were killed in clashes between security forces and gunmen in southeastern Iran, local media said on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, armed militants from the Jaish al-Adl group attacked a police station in Sistan-Baluchestan province. 'Three terrorists were killed, and two others were detained,' Police Chief Mohammad Reza Eshaghi said in a statement. The security official added that one police officer also lost his life in the attack.

Sistan-Baluchestan province, located in Iran's southeast along the Pakistan border, has experienced various attacks by Jaish al-Adl, a militant group designated as a terrorist organization by the Iranian government. The group claims to defend the rights of the Baluch people in the region.
