Beirut: Two individuals were injured following an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, marking another breach of the ceasefire agreement. The Health Ministry reported the incident on Tuesday, noting that one of the injured is in critical condition. The attack specifically targeted the area of Naqoura.

According to Anadolu Agency, the strike occurred near the town's port, as reported by the state news agency NNA. Emergency services, including ambulances, were promptly dispatched to the scene to transport the wounded. As of now, there has been no immediate response or comment from Israeli officials regarding the attack.

Cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which began in October 2023, escalated to a full-scale conflict by September 2024. The war resulted in the death of approximately 4,000 people, including Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah, and injured around 17,000 others. A ceasefire was negotiated and reached in November, yet Israeli forces have continued near-daily attacks in southern Lebanon, citing the targeting of Hezbollah activities as the reason.

The terms of the truce stipulated that Israel was to withdraw completely from southern Lebanon by January 26. However, this deadline was extended to February 18 after Israel refused to comply initially. Currently, Israel maintains a military presence at five border outposts.
