Ankara: Turkish defense and software firm Havelsan delivered the 60th unit of its homegrown Platform Data Distribution System (PDDS) to the Turkish Naval Forces. The PDDS is a crucial component in modern naval platforms, facilitating data flow and system integration.
According to Anadolu Agency, Havelsan began developing the PDDS and the Submarine Data Distribution System (SDDS) 15 years ago. The latest unit will be utilized on the TCG Heybeliada, an anti-submarine warfare corvette. These systems have a lifespan of more than 300 years and are designed to operate continuously on all ships and submarines in the navy.
The PDDS and SDDS product family boasts a domestically produced components content of over 80%. This includes a homegrown single board computer (SBC), interface, and time cards, among other elements. Other vessels within the Turkish Naval Forces are also awaiting delivery of these advanced systems.
