Istanbul: People from all walks of life on Saturday enjoyed the sweet taste of mango, also known as the "king of fruits," in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul. The event "King of Fruits, Pakistani Mango," hosted by the Pakistani Consul General in Istanbul and attended by dozens of people, aimed to promote the South Asian nation's iconic fruit in Trkiye, according to officials. According to Anadolu Agency, Nauman Aslam, the counselor general of the Pakistani mission in Istanbul, shared that mango is a "unique fruit," also known as the "king of fruits," and highlighted Pakistan's status as the world's fourth-largest mango producer. Attendees were treated to fresh mangoes cut in various shapes and sizes, along with milkshakes made from the sweet fruit. Pakistan produces 185,000 metric tons of mangoes annually, boasting 20 different varieties cultivated in the Punjab and Sindh provinces. Aslam noted that the country exports its mangoes to several regions and countries, including the Middle East, Europe, Austra lia, and the US. In recent years, the mango fruit has been introduced to the Turkish market with "some success," Aslam remarked, emphasizing that events like these are essential for familiarizing the Turkish people with this exotic fruit. He also spoke about mango's role in public diplomacy, suggesting that the fruit's sweetness complements the diplomatic language, fostering collaboration between communities. Aslam further highlighted Pakistan's agrarian economy, mentioning that the country produces various fruits and vegetables. He identified citrus fruits and mangoes as the two most crucial export commodities.
