Trkiye’s AJet to Launch Ankara-Tbilisi Flights, Expands Network

Ankara: Trkiye's low-cost airline AJet, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, is set to commence flights from Ankara to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, starting on October 1. The new route will operate four times a week, with ticket sales having begun on Tuesday, as announced by AJet's Chair Ahmet Bolat on LinkedIn.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bolat highlighted that the Tbilisi route will expand AJet's network, connecting Ankara to 31 cities across 24 countries. He emphasized that AJet is proud to be the sole airline offering flights from Ankara to a wide range of international destinations. Bolat also revealed future plans to launch flights to Madrid and Barcelona by the end of October, which will increase connections to 33 cities in 25 countries from Ankara.

Bolat further disclosed that AJet is exploring potential routes to Brussels, Milan, and Rome. He called on business partners, chambers of industry and commerce, and tourism organizations to support these efforts by engaging with relevant organizations in the target countries. He added that the airline is not only expanding its flight network but also running a significant promotional campaign to boost Ankara's profile as a tourism hub.

The "Ankara+ (Plus) Project," a key initiative in this vision, aims to transform Ankara and its neighboring provinces into tourist attractions. Bolat outlined plans for visitors to spend two days in the capital and additional days in surrounding regions such as Cappadocia and Konya. AJet intends to offer services in gastronomy, health tourism, and more, creating a sustainable ecosystem that benefits multiple sectors including tourism, commerce, and healthcare.

Bolat concluded by stating that the airline's efforts to open new routes, including those to Tbilisi, Madrid, and Barcelona, are part of a broader strategy to connect Ankara with the world. The initiative includes promotional activities like press trips and partnerships with social media influencers to enhance visibility and attract tourists.
