Gaza: At least 65,283 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, the enclave's Health Ministry reported on Sunday.
According to Anadolu Agency, a ministry statement detailed that 75 bodies, including four retrieved from under the rubble, were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours. In the same period, 304 people sustained injuries, increasing the total number of injuries to 166,575 since the onset of the conflict.
The statement added that many victims remain trapped under debris and on roads, with rescuers unable to reach them due to the ongoing hostilities. The ministry highlighted that five Palestinians were killed and 24 others injured by Israeli army fire while attempting to obtain humanitarian aid in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 2,523, with more than 18,473 others wounded since October 7.
Furthermore, the ministry reported four deaths, including that of a child, due to starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths from hunger to 440, which includes 147 children. Since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification declared a famine in Gaza last month, 162 people have died, including 32 children.
The Israeli army resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip on March 18, resulting in at least 12,724 deaths and 54,534 injuries, effectively ending a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in place since January, according to the ministry.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its actions in the enclave.
