Kathmandu: Nepal's interim government announced on Sunday that a judicial commission has been established to investigate the nationwide protests that resulted in 74 deaths and the ousting of the elected government. The commission is tasked with examining the incidents of killings, arson, and vandalism that occurred during the youth-led demonstrations two weeks ago.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Kathmandu Post reported that the commission has been given a three-month deadline to complete its investigation and present its findings to the interim government. This initiative is part of Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki's commitment to addressing the violence that erupted during the protests.
Sushila Karki, who assumed office on September 14, is Nepal's first female prime minister and a former chief justice. She took over the leadership following the ousting of KP Sharma Oli's government, which occurred in the wake of the protests. The commission's findings are expected to shed light on the events that led to the significant political shift in the country.
