Moscow: Russia on Monday named the two-state solution as the 'only possible path' to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In remarks to journalists during a press briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized Moscow's commitment to fundamental UN Security Council resolutions and the international consensus on resolving the conflict through a two-state solution.
According to Anadolu Agency, Peskov reiterated that this approach remains Russia's stance, asserting that it is the only viable path to resolving the complex and long-standing conflict. He noted that the conflict is possibly experiencing its most acute and tragic phase in history.
Peskov's remarks come amid Israel's ongoing offensive in Gaza since October 7, 2023, which has resulted in more than 65,300 Palestinian casualties, predominantly women and children. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, pushing the population into famine conditions.
In related developments, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Furthermore, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice, with UN investigators concluding last Tuesday that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
